Will 200w suffice?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would insulate that tank as much as possible. 2x 200w can put a serious dent in your energy bill,

Nah. Won't really even be noticeable over what I'm already running anyway lol.

Eheim heaters aren't what they used to be.

Id go with two finnex titanium's and an inkbird controller.

I know they aren't. But they're still better than a lot of other heaters out there, with a fraction of the price tag.

Check out the finnex brand. I've been pleased with these. i cycled out my eheims as they failed starting in 2017 now every heater in my house is finnex and i'm not replacing them annually.

I did - reviews I saw on Finnex were very mixed.

I'm still using Eheims in almost all my tanks. I have a ton of them as I started breeding bettas 3 years ago and needed a whack of small tanks and new heaters, and I went with Eheims. None of them have failed, I haven't had to replace any of them. I have purchased a couple Aqueon heaters recently for my larger tanks when I set up new tanks and those are my second choice now.

You may have better eheim products in Canada then we have in the US. The previous disgrace of a president made some changes that saw them leave the US- for the ones I bought since 2016 (atleast 20, when I was running 17 tanks) none lasted a full year.
Conversely the titanium finnex with controllers have been running for 3+ Yrs and they are cheaper and not glass.

just my .02

Could be. I haven't had issues personally so I'll stick with what I know :)

All heaters are cheaply made, every brand is a total crap shoot which is why ideally a controller should be added into the equation for safety redundancy.

I recall years ago an aquatic inventor/manufacturer/vendor discussing why heaters are so cheaply made, and basically what he stated was that the vast majority of hobbyists would not be willing to pay $100+ for a heater with high end components. No argument there. Today's heaters are another classic case of quality vs cost, and a market that has to compete with low cost foreign made parts.
