will a larger bichir eat a smaller bichir?

You can see from the replies on this thread and from many of the pics in the photo lounge that experiances vary. What is your willingness of risk? Sometimes is works and sometimes it does not.

Better safe than sorry has been said a few times. Del's grow pretty fast in the first 6 months or so. Three months in a grow out tank with a good diet and the size differential will start to swing in favor of the Del. (I use a little 5 gallon and feed heavily with good filtration and frequent water changes)

Good luck.

:iagree:

I've got a 12" congicus mixed with some 4" albino sens. The congicus has never eaten any other bichirs, but just the other day when I was feeding the bichirs floating pellets, a 6" endli grabbed one of the sens by the face and was ready to kill it (though I'm sure it couldn't eat it) but luckily I saved the small sen.

I'm sure it was an accident since the sen was at the surface near the pellets, but still, it was a risk I was responsible for.

I caught it on film, maybe I'll upload.
