will a metal halide melt the plastic bracing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you are just going with a few corals I would probably not use the middle bulb then. I feel like it would cause more problems for you than it would be worth. Take out the middle bulb and raise the fixture a couple extra inches so you can get a slightly better spread with the two remaining bulbs. Obviously not the only solution, so be sure to let us know what you decide! Also when you get it set up I would love to see some pics. I'd watch the angels, I was under the impression you could only do one per tank?

Well this tank could be a while before its fully setup as I'm moving houses and have a lot of other stuff going on so within 2 years I'll post a full build thread

I'll start with a teaser, brand new 150 gal marineland tank with the light, I will be drilling 2 1.5" holes for drains and I'm feeling a 1" return? I will be painting the back either blue or black any thoughts?IMG_20140808_220024.jpgIMG_20140808_220727.jpg

Nice tank! I'm fond of black backgrounds myself, that is what I just painted my new tank, however many reef people go blue from what I have seen. I imagine blue probably looks better in a reef
I'll probably end up going with black, I now have a panworld 100px and a gen-x 40 pump for the returns. Now I'm debating whether to run both pumps or just the panworld and run the skimmer, and phosban reactors off of it. Got both pumps for a great price

The light won't melt it, but it will cook it to the point where it will eventually crack. If you place a strip of opaque plastic over the brace it would help.

Alright I'll do that, thank you
