Not sure if my petsmart carried snails that large. The website says they only carry Mystery Snails, which they say only get to be 2 inches. Is that too small, will the bichir be able to eat them, or should they be fine if i buy 3-4?

Not to keen of loaches now anyway, seeing as they gave ich to my bala sharks i had for 4 months and killed them.
They will be fine.Lol, its the only shop in town, the next fish specialty shop is 30 minutes away, not sure fish can survive in a bag that long? If they can i may get my fish from the other shop, and my supplies from petsmart, seeing as they are cheaper there.
Wrong assessment. All fish will carry ich unless the parasites are eliminated completely by consistent treatment course. Only by not quarantining every new fish you get will you end up getting an infestation of ich. Loaches are not to be blamed for this. If anything, the owner should take the blame for not quarantining the carriers.
If you insist on keeping a pleco, an adult male BN pleco will be fine with all your fish. And I disagree that senegal bichirs will eat adult yoyos. Adult yoyos at 6-7 inches will not be eaten. As they are fast growers, it should not take more than a year to grow the yoyos in which case you can then introduce an adult senegal bichir unless you want to grow both species together which will work as yoyos will reach adult size faster than the bichir can.
And not all plecos will eat the slime coat of bichirs. Bristlenose plecos don't. And in general, plecos that will eat slime coat have a reason to. They do not find their diet adequate which is why they will resort to slime coat as another alternative to satisfy their hunger. A lot of people fail to provide the plecos their nutritional requirements adequately, sad to say. Irresponsible on their part.
And I disagree using mystery snails. They will NOT eat algae consistently. They will prefer to eat other supplemental foods than graze on algae.
