Will a RD cross with a Texas?

I bought a beautiful Herichthys carpintis today but I'm unsure of the sex. Hopefully its whatever my RD isn't.

i have a rosequeen wich is a red devil mixed with something and i threw it in with my much larger red texas. they immediatly hit it off. she started laying eggs on a slanted rock within 2 weeks but werent fertilized. 2 weeks later same story so im going on a 3rd time now. either its going to take quite a few attempts or since i have to hybrids one is sterile if not both. i just dont know how many attempt i should give it before i say sterile.

LOL... Texas and Blackbelt would be cool if I had either fish to start with...
The Carpintis layed eggs and then ate them like a day or 3 later.

Females have a black spot in the dorsal fin. Males don't. Somewhere between two and three inches, the female should develop the spot.
