It could just severely stress the fish. Barbel is just an aesthetic aspect of the arowana at this point.. It can do fine without one.

C cougar579 Candiru MFK Member May 11, 2005 552 0 46 48 Sep 30, 2006 #14 Yes it works I did it on my RTG. This was my preference to do so. Like redtailfool said it can cause a high stress level. That is why i used clove oil. It basically knocks the fish out for a bit causing it to go belly up.
