I'm not talking about the red texas cichild, but the green one. How aggressive is the texas compared to severums and oscars?

Stocking is:

1x severum
1x clown knife
7x clown loaches
1x leopard ctenopoma
2x datnoids
1x fat sleeper goby
1x fire eel
3x silver dollars

Tank size is 300 gallons.

I think you will be ok in a 300gal. Most people keep them with other aggressive cichlids that can hold their own and keep the Tex in check. IME they are nothing like Severums or Oscars. Tex can be very aggressive. Just keep an eye on it so it doesn't take out your docile fish. It sounds like it will be the most aggressive of your stock.

I think the datnoids may be the most aggressive of them all. How big are the dats? What size is the texas that you're thinking about getting? IMO I wouldn't try it but makes me wonder how the dats are able play nice with the others in your tank.

That datnoids are fine. One is 2.5 inches, the other is about 5.5 inches. There are no fights in my tank. Everyone gets along. I want to try and find a texas about 3 inches to go with the stock. If its going to bully all my other fish, I can go without it.

What's the size of everything else in your tank? What about the size of the green texas?

1 Clown Knife: 9 inches
7 Clown loaches: 4-7 inches
I have to buy another severum, but have my eye on a 7 incher
1 Leopard ctenopoma: 3 inches
1 ornate bichir: 6 inches (forgot to put him on the list)
1 fire eel: 15 inches
1 fat sleeper/jade goby: 5 inches
3 silver dollars: 3-4 inches

I just wanted to add one more fish to finish my stocking. I was going to try and find a 3 inch green texas.

IMO I would worry about the Texas growing fast and eating the ctenopoma and the goby. The Texas will get pretty large and they're pretty aggressive fish. I wanted one badly too but they wouldn't work with my EBJD or Sevs.

I'd always say get another Sev... I'm a huge Severum fan... Have 4 myself and my eyes on another one. :headbang2

The Tex that I have had began getting aggressive around 4-5". I don't have any experience with most of your stock. So I will just say keep your eye on it if you decide to go with the Tex.

Severums are my favorite cichlids, but I am afraid of getting two. I don't want a mated pair of cichlids in my tank. Mated pairs tend to be hyper aggressive.
