will an rtc hurt my retic ray?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a RTC that's about 3' long... 12" wide..
He's only 2 years old.. And if i don't feed him on a regular basis... He goes after my Oscar. which is big enought now to fit in his mouth.. In the mornings if i forget to feed my RTC... I see the mouth marks on the sides of my Oscar.. So I know it was a rough night for the Oscar..... I Have a beast on my hands here...
I have a MFK from here helping me to sell my RTC..
These RTC grow huge fast.. at least mine did...
So if it can fit in it's mouth or keep up with the growth of the RTC... Don't bother keeping anything with a RTC..
It will EAT it..
RTC are like Bit pulls if you ask me..LOL

Yeah Mark... I would take your RTC But not at the price your asking... it's to high for a fish that is hard enough to Give away Let alone sell...

to the OP the RTC Will roll your Ray up like a Taco and slurp it down in one mighty slurp should you decide to put them together... Personally I would grow them out in seperate tanks... once RTC's get bigger they get alittle more docile and you could get away with it... possibly... Nothing is gauranteed with a RTC

I put a new mono in my 4"x8" tank with a 16" rtc. The cat kept chasing and biting his tail shredding it. He found a space to jump into the filter over flow and got sucked up to the 1 1/4" suction pipe. Don't have to worry about the ray anymore. One thing for the ray he poked the rtc on his nose. Didn't seem to hurt the rtc, but left a red poke mark for a while.

maybe not, ive seen tanks with rays and rtcs no problem. the filtration is probablt the biggest issue but id just watch the agression and make sure u feed the ray by hand and give the rtc a ton of food and i forsee no problem. now SOMEONE tell me im wrong again

I have a RTC he's about 3' long with a huge mouth on it
I have him with my oscar and another big fish that i forgot the name of it at this time... The growth rate of a RTC is enormous... My RTC was only about 2" when i brought him home... It's not even two years now and he's almost 3'.... So Unless you have a fish that won't fit in the RTC:) mouth and keep up with the growth rate of a RTC.. Don't do it
