Will blood worm survive in my tank?

I seed my tanks with scuds (amphipods) to serve the same function. They eat passed over foods, food that gets into places the fish can't, and the fish have a frequent snack of the scuds that venture out into the open.

Good point but like I stated before I am terrified of worms ;) I dont want to open up my filter one day and see hundreds or thousands of these worms in there. Is there anything I can do if they do get out of control?
