Hey, that is me!

I do have 3 big pacu, red bellies. My guys are in a 450 that is 8'x3'x28" for now. The glass is 3/4".

I had them in a smaller tank that only had 1/2" glass. They were moved mostly because of the glass thickness, but also because they had out-grown the tank.

Their next tank is already planned, it will be a fiberglass tank that is 9' x 4' x 2.5'. (I am restricted to a depth of 30" based on the width of doorways. If I remodel the house I could have a deeper tank, and who knows....maybe I will.

Yes I do think your fish can go through 1/2" glass. Mine went through the 3/8" glass I was using for a lid when they were about 18" long.

At the size you have them right now, they will grow about 1" per month, keep that in mind as you are planning. By the time they are 18" long they will need thicker glass.

The vicarious enjoyment of Pacu continues, similar to the way I admire my neighbor's humongous Basset while I have a Dachshund.

9' x 4' x 2.5 = 655 gallons?
arowanas are nice and they should be fine in there as long as the tank is covered. Look into getting some nice peacock bass in there, they get big colorful and are very fun to grow out also think about some other kinds of catfish there are so many kinds that would do great in there.

Thank's everyone really help full I really really love these fish but it would cost thousand's for a new tank the same size or bigger with 3/4 inch glass and i haven't got that sort of money in my back pocket or the bank !!!! i think i will get rid of them soon !!!! so sad they have great personality's !!!! I do want some monsters in there though can anyone recommend some 2 foot + fish that will not break my tank !!! if there is any !!!! thank's Dave !!!
