I got him about 3 or 4 months ago and was told he was already about 5 years old. I was wondering if he will get bigger or if he is already full grown? I have noticed he is a little fatter since I got him. I am feeding him pellets in the morning and dried shrimp at night.

Also is there something I can do to bring out more color?

Thanks I really appreciate all the advise

If he is 5 years old, that should be his max size the way he is now. I heard Grand Sumo is good, or you could try Hai Feng, or Chingmix.

Thank you!! I have him in a 55gal right now would moving him to a bigger tank make any difference?

55 gallon is a little small since its only 12 inches wide. A 75 gallon would get him out to his max potential.

chances are if hes that big already then its probably not gonna be much different. what you can do is feed the fish food thats specially made for flowerhorns and if the fish has potential it will improve. but you have to also consider the genetic traits that it got from the parents.

If you want color try this combo if you have the money.
Hikari Koi Saki Color
Shanda Pellets
Grand Sumo Red
Hai Feng Blood Parrot

When i said potential, I meant the color >.>

Feed your fish any high quality fish food, don't be suckered in by overpriced food that is supposedly developed just for FH.

At 5 years of age you might be able to bring out better color by an improvement in diet, but the gains in growth will be so small that you won't even notice them, no matter what or how much you feed.
