Will he recover? ST gurus input needed..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I wouldnt be touching him, a fish's slime coat is delicate and vital to their health in times of stress. If you bump up the temp make sure you have plenty of DO as if anything, what hurt him was lack of o2.

Yeah lots of air in there now.. You really think it was lack of o2? He was only in a 75g tank and I bet that water drained out in 30-45 minutes.. I was just lucky I heard a flood. I would have thought it would have been lack of water since he had to get down on his side to stay submerged.

I know about a fish's slime coat. I would have shot myself if I didn't at least try something other than leaving him sit there if he didn't make it.. But I've saved my barra from a similar incident by propping him up with a net for a few minutes when he was swimming upside down/irratically due to loss of o2. Thought I'd try it to see if it helped. If not "you learn from your mistakes". And actually if he dies I will have to chalk it up to a mistake because in this hobby if you stress over everything you'll go insane.

And you ain't a Monster Fish Keeper til you killed a couple.. lol

I don't like to have fish die neither to my own stupidity or bad luck.. But it's so true in a way dealing with the mishaps/problems/deaths makes you a better keeper. :)

Thanks for all the postive comments. I'll update you guys on his status later.

dats are tough.. it should be able to pull through. Youre doing the best you can now. Just make sure its in a stress free environment. Do keep us updated

He should make it. I've had big dats shipped, punctured the bag and received them sitting in 3 inches of water for hours. As long as hes not losing balance other than leaning, he should be ok. GL

Everyone had pretty much said it...hope your ST will pull through..
