Gerry i noticed you got a couple new young very nice Aro's what size are they and could you bring up one of them with the Orino?

They are in the 10-12" range. I would not take a chance with a big bass like this one. We're talking about a significant chunk of change. ;)

do you have a spare tank if it doesn't work out ? you can always sell it once it heals up.

Nope, no spare tank. Just a 75 gallon sump that already houses a nasty foot long pike. If I did have a spare, I would have brought the bass home already.

if any bass could stand up to your aro, i bet it would be an orino

Oh yeah? I thought the occels were pretty tough, until the RTG had all three 15 inchers backed in the corner while proceeding to shred them.

But seriously, are orinos known to be more aggressive than the other variants?

Wow, Chaitika might be back in the game. You know what means?! Awesome cichla pics all over the forum again ;) As for the dorsal fin, it's not split right down to his back so it should heal perfectly fine. Also, it might make you feel a little better to know that orinos are more aggressive then most other cichla. You have a better shot of him holding his own.

Sweet.

I think I'll ask the lfs if I can return him with no refund if the RTG snaps. If they agree, he'll be in my tank tomorrow night. ;)

:D Good luck bradda, I really hope it works out.

gerry, my xb was the same as your RTG and used to shred my azuls and kelberi..
The moment the orino joined the pack.. all has changed.. the orino wont back down from any attack and usually scares the xb away

Thanks for the info. I'm going to make sure my flash batteries are charged up and my camera is ready to go nonetheless. :naughty:
