Is it salavagable? I've been treating it with Melafix for about a week now and I haven't seen any improvement. :(

It looks like cloudy eye. Just add one tablespoon of aquarium salt for every five gallons. In about 3 days you'll see improvement. After a week or more it should be gone. Good luck.

I've tried the salt thing for about a month and it didn't help. So now I'm using Melafix. Nothing seems to be working. Should I just keep going with salt and Melafix? He has drop eye in the other eye and I don't think he can really see out of this eye. So he swims at an angle. I can only guess it's because he can only see out of one eye...and it looking down. :(

had a similar problem with one of my fish once. the salt and melafix are great, also make sure you keep up on your water changes. and clean your filter element. it should work.

Del, What the heck is that in your avitar. Its awsome

turn up the heat and add salt.

as for drop eye, have you ever tried putting a small light on the top of the tank so that the silver has something to look up to. that might help cure drop eye, but it is very hard when its a severe case of drop eye. good luck

Slowly increase temp to 86 F and API salt at one rounded table spoon per five gallons. If you started melafix already contiinue with half doses with small water changes (25-35%) every three days. Be patient, eye injuries can take several WEEKS to heal, so no stress it will get better it just going to take some time.

Good Luck,

I'm starting to get pretty worried about it's eye. I haven't seen an improvement and I've had a couple of people tell me that the eye is blind.
