I'm starting to get pretty worried about it's eye. I haven't seen an improvement and I've had a couple of people tell me that the eye is blind.

oh cmon now...

if he can still act normal as in then he is not blind

my aro injured her eye 2 weeks ago and its still somewhat cloudy, but she still eating and acting like a champ

turn up the heat and add salt.

as for drop eye, have you ever tried putting a small light on the top of the tank so that the silver has something to look up to. that might help cure drop eye, but it is very hard when its a severe case of drop eye. good luck

now what what would make an aro interested enough to stare at a light?

cmon now ;)

yeah and nevermind the fact that most tanks have quite a bit of light on top of the tanks already. wait.... hmmmm maybe they are looking away from the light?

It seems to me your doing everything to make it better..i would keep up the salt and melafix..is he still eating good? Hope it improves soon... i know it just does not go away over night, it takes a while to heal up.. so be patient..but keep it up.. maybe should turn up heat a bit too??

Thanks for the uplifting comments guys. I really appreciate it. It's eating like normal. The only thing that does worry me is that it swims at a slight angle. The "blind eye" side will be tilted a bit downward while the drop eye side will be upward I guess to make up for the downward angle of the drop eye.

I ALSO HAVE A SILVER AND HIS EYE GOT CLOWDY FOR A WHILE. I THEN DID EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO CURE IT AND IT WON'T GO AWAY, UNTIL I PUT AN EXTRA HEATER AND USED SALT EVERY OTHER DAY....

GOOD LUCK MAN I HOPE YOUR AROW GET'S BETTER....

Just a reminder salt stays in the tank, it doesn't evaporate or get exausted. Do not let the salt content get over 0.5%, this can be harmfull to aro's. That why we treat at 0.1-0.3%. Only add salt to the amount of water that is removed from the tank during water changes after the initial adding of salt. In extreme cases you can bath an aro in as much as 1-3% salt, but only for 10-15 minutes.
