I have reviewed past threads about this, and was wondering if anyone has anything to add. I have 1 sick platy in a heavily planted tank, salt is out. I have some Maracyn, and Melafix. Should I go out for Maracyn two? I wouldn't want to lose .3% of my platy population, LOL.

api made a pill form of medicine that was called "general cure". i've used it before and it worked really well. i don't know if you can find it anymore because i think they discontinued those "pills".

OK changed 25% water, added prime. Gravel vac, added melafix. I'll test the water in an hour.

I would say no, melafix is more a preventative than a cure, if it does not improve in a couple days with the melafix go with the maracyn, it is erythromycin so it should work

When my puffer got popeye I used malfix and salt. A few days later he was OK. It worked for me. But I Used Melafix first then waited 4 hours then added the salt. I hate adding to many things at once.

I will get some more Maracyn if it doesn't improve by tomorrow night.
