So this very smart buddy of mine decides to throw in 5 danios in his tank with about 10 small african cichlids. Next day he calls me and tells me that all but ONE were eaten overnight (DUH!) and asks me if I want to save the last one by putting him in my tank... I agree and now the poor guy is swimming around in my tank. He is not beaten up except that his tail is eaten. Otherwise he looks fairly happy.

So.. Will he grow his tail back???

if its chewed down to a complete stub, it won't grow back.
if the damage is ONLY to the fin, it will grow back.

if the base of the tail in pink or red and obviously chewed in can get infected so u should treat it for safety that it doesnt get infected. Ive brought back 3 fish so far that have been chewed to th base of the tail pink and raw and have tails now. its not a loss cause. a bit of salt worked for me.

use some melafix for the fins, or fin gro. but sadly if it is only a stub theres nothing you can do about it. hell just be a fairly happy tail-less danio.

seeee i told u :D i have fish in my tank that are proof u can grow tails back from raw stubs.
