Will my Firemouth heal?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its natural for an injured animal to take up shelter to heal. You should throw in some plastic plants in there as well. More cover wil make them feel more secure.

What do you mean when you say the tank has "good lighting"? Most fish prefer subdued lighting. Its only us humans that finds a brightly lit aquarium appealling. So, you should keep the lighting down as another way to make it feel more secure.

I've got the 36" Finnex Ray 2 light fixture, on for roughly 12 hours while I'm at work. It's the only light I have and since I work nights, my room has a black out on the windows so there's not even ambient light. Should I move the light forward or backward on the tank to create a dimmer area?
Still need to grab maybe on of the scarlet Temple and wisteria from my other tank, but they haven't taken off real well yet. Could pull the amazon sword from my cichlid tank because they just tear it up anyway...
I'll figure out something to get him some more cover.

I would move the light to the front, because they'll prefer to hide towards the back of the tank.

My 180 is in an unfinished basement and gets very little ambient light. I picked up an $18 24" led off EBay and this light is on 10am-10pm with the main lighting on 5pm-9:30pm. The led provides very subdued lighting and actually looks really cool by itself. I hardly ever clean for algae

I'll do that when I get home from work. Today instead of turning the tank light on, I just left the room light on so it's dimmer.
Now I need to deal with the brand new filter making horrible noises off and on (and keeping me awake).
Think it's because the AC50 doesn't fit correctly on the wider 40 breeder tank frame...
