will my lights grow anything?

Sure doesnt matter what brand it is...long as its K level is in that range. Just look around when you go to HD, I know that GE makes a 6500K daylight bulb. Then alot of really white home lighting is about 8000K which would work to...just read the package :) Itll definatly be cheaper than going to a LFS for bulbs to...I bought some for my 150G for about 8bucks from lowes...compared to the $25 it would have been online or more than that from a LFS.
 
i took back the two 18inch 15watt LifeGlo Bulbs i bought for $50.00!! from my lfs. I went to HomeDepot and bought a 48inch shop light fixture and two 32watt T8 6500k Daylight bulbs for the same price $50.00 lol. they make the green pop in my tank! so now i have 64watts in my 55g what kind of plants am i looking for. and the light fixture i picked up looks pretty nice red and silver it doesnt clash too bad. i might paint it black eventually.
 
Good going :) Still keep to very low light plants like crypts, java ferns, anubias, moss, and maybe a tropica sword or two, and some onion plants. But you should see some success now alot easier than with just the 30watt :)
