Will my overflow design work out?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is one way to do your overflow so you don't have to look at the pvc in your tank. I drew it out so you can see it,but you can tuck it tight to the tank if you make it this way so it's not far from the wall. :) Curious what the other guys think....

WOW thanks for that info! but sadly i just took some measurements on my new DIY tank i won't have much space outside my tank. will you be able to give me a drawing of the overflow on the base of the tank?

the one that goes all the way to the bottom of the tank is kinda useless cause you have the top piece

So true you are right.... You would have to run two overflows on each side of the tank. That is if you want to run a deep water overflow. One low and one high with the top T setting your water level... :)

Here is what I used similar to his design sort of

You could easily build it sideways to make more room

heres how im planning on doing mine, on the bottom intake, i will have a gatevalve to control flow much like a herbie style standpipe. the top will just have an upturned 90 to skim the surface, and act a full emergancy drain if the bottom becomes clogged.
