Don't have working heaters at the moment and since my 180 is leaking I need to move him into another tank in the garage however I just filled it up with hose cold water and have treated it transferred filters etc but I can't get working heaters until next Monday or Thursday possibly Thursday will he survive like this the water is really cold and I have no way to heat it

He is a tropical frshwater type fish. Monday is 6 days away and thursday is a long ways a way! I think the water temp will drop way to cold for his survival. My opinion. Have a friend hold onto him. Ask the lfs if they can hold onto him. I wouldnt risk it. Hope everything works out!

Daymn it I am screwed then I have no buddies who are interested in fish or the hobby and they don't have tanks near by and only lfs are like petco and petsmart I don't know what to do ?!?

In the old days they used to heat tanks with incandescent bulbs, but it is tricky to get the right amount of heat into the tank....

For starters I would move the tank into the house, as long as you keep the house fairly warm (at least around 68-70) he should survive for a few days.

^ Ive never done the bulb thing or even heard of it. But I agree with moving the tank inside. Get it in warmer temperature. Maybe you can get some luke warm water and keep doing water changes everyday to try and keep it above 70 degrees. 70 degree water may seem hot, but in all reality its actually pretty cold. You may shower with water temperature thats 100 + degress. Not sure if anyone else recommends doing a warm water water change everyday. But its worth a try rather than giving up.

Hello; Heat small clean containers of treated water on a stove or in a microwave to near boiling and keep repeating this until tank water is warm enough.
You are in Ca so perhaps the ambient temp is not as cold as the rest of the country. Perhaps a space heater near the tank or keep repeating the heating of small amounts of tank water in a microwave.
Over the years I have been in the practice of having extra heaters on hand for such quick setups or heater failures.
Good luck

All that plus crappy Wal Mart heaters. Wal Mart is everywhere and open 24/7 in most locations and the have fish supplies.

If you want to keep the fish alive, I mean REALLY want to, you'll find a way.
