will new sump fit under 265g?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
custom stand, 100g bottom tank slides out the right side. this of course is why I built my own stand

ok, so regarding taking out boards...we discussed we're too weary on doing so...the tank slants forward just a little bit due to the floor slanting. It's on carpeting, with concrete underneath, but we're afraid the weight of the tank, combined with the slant would cause too much pressure on the stand while taking out support boards...

talking now of just building a sump to sit outside the tank. BUT the stand is smack against the floorboards, so doesn't allow much room for the plumbing to get by.....so frustrating.

so, no size tank bigger than the 30g will get through the front? Or rubber maid container?

Make your own sump out of acrylic. Cut your pieces to size, slide them through the opening, and assemble them inside the stand.

to me if the tank is slanting you need to take it all down to level it anyway. So just bite the bullet and take it down and do it right.

as for the tank slanting, it's just ever so slightly. My other tanks slant a lot worse. I only noticed the slant cuz I stared at it for awhile one night. I know a slight slant isn't good, but....

Just wanted to say that instead of dealing with the hassle of building a sump (outside the tank), figuring out the hose situation (stands right against the baseboards), getting bigger pumps for it, etc,...when we're going to get a bigger place ourselves in next 2yrs. When we move, we'll upgrade to a much bigger sump then, maybe a used 125....

decided just to get a fx5 for it, and use it just for bacteria...mainly just bioballs, and reorganize the sump to do the cleaning....

found cheap, new fx5's on ebay late last night. Bought 2...gonna upgrade the fluval 405 on the 75g to a fx5 ;)....then add that 405 to the 125g....never too much....

3 out of 4 tanks will be getting a filtration makeover
