Will pbass eat my pleco? What would some good tank mates be?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
lol start a 10 gallon tank for them and save yourself the heartache later

why feeders? get a tank full of fancies of the same species and just weed out the bad brood so only you have the best show males and females.. you can't have some beautiful plecos and then a bunch of feeder guppies lol

Im thinking of buying a couple of 3" gold nugget plecos, would pbass leave them alone?

i wanted to do the same thing but i talked myself out of it. GNP are expensive at my lfs 40$ for 2in =O

but i just got a common hes just as cool :D

most plecos produce more waist then they eat so they are a waist..... i do like gold nuggets though

The feeder guppies are for my pbass, not for show!!! Lol. I would love to raise my own guppies and feed the pbass a couple each day. It's cheaper and more convenient plus it would give me a safe tank to show off my plecos :)

I think that pbass are smart enough to stay away from plecos, catfish or anything else with spikes. It should be a natural instinct.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL: Sorry man but this is a thought I will never have again ;) Natural instinct is to EAT FISH ;)

Here is one of the worst tankmates for Cichla ;) WHY?? Because Plecos kill fish that try to take them down ;) As there are no acids in the mouth to digest them... And they usually do not make it bast the mouth to to the spined all over their faces ;)

It will be cool if it works.. but those cichla are going to be 16-18" long before those Gold nuggets are 6-7" Still.. with any tank.. it is hit and miss. I'll hope with nad for you.. Worst thing that could happen is the cichla does not get it down and dies because plecos can only go one way :D Once they are in they defensively stick their pectorals out.. And the only other way out is through the stomache or the gills ;) Mine lived.. he was lucky.. My wife may have been luckier as she came into the bedroom Laughing saying I needed to come see this funn as shi :D
