here is the dilema.. QT tank ( thank goodness!), live plants, fahaka puffer, and Ick... I have a bottle of prazi and am comfortable with useing it.. but will it work for ick? I was planning on worming him anyways.. but if it'll work better to kill 2 birds with one stone.

I have never had any issues whatsoever with Ick by raising temp to 86+ and adding a bunch of salt. Malachite Green (an element of Quick Cure) also works nicely. It's about 30 times less expensive than Prazi Pro too and more effective.

I won't say PP doesn't work... it might. But it's not the right med to use. Crank up the heat.

Or get some QC (but DON'T crank up the heat if you do dose that).

I'll pull the plants and strip the tank down and crank up the heat and use salt if it's really my only option.. Quick Cure in my book has always ment "Quick Kills" particularly with scalelss fish. Quick cure has also always caused a re-cycle to take place. I don't have another cycled filter I can move onto the tank after useing that stuff.

and I don't want to dump Prazi in the tank.. deworming the puffer.. but causeing it to die from Ick in the meantime and not be able to treat the tank w/ other meds if need be.

You don't need to remove the plants to cure the Ich. Do a 50% water change, raise the temp to 87 and dose with Aquarium salt. No need to rip the whole tank apart. I've done this in my planted tanks on several occasions as have others with no I'll effects. Good luck.

I bumped the temp up to 82 and went to bed.. and it's now getting bumped up to 86. the spots are gone. yay! will the temp alone kill the Ick or is it just in the water atm, and doing the life cycle thing? I don't have any safe salt atm but will be getting it at work today.
