yeah they will be underneath driftwood and sand so thats not a problem and yeah i plan to vaccum them when i do waterchanges so that should help and thanks i actually thought they grew slower than that so thats great to hear once they reach the 5-6 mark they should be out the of the woods with danger from the baby cichlids, soooooo will be getting the knife as soon as i get my tank set up in two weeks!!
Will PVC hiding spots create dead spots?

^ if you want.. you can smother the the clean pvc with aquarium silicone and cover it with some gravel, gives it a more natural look 
thats actually awesome idea but theyr going to be buried under the sand and driftwood so really the only part that will be seen is the rim of the opening
