I've got a hundred and 170 gallon aquarium witch is 72"x30"x18". I just replaced the front and side panel. I was wondering if there is a silicone recommended for is strength? I've also heard GE 100% silicone 1 works great, but is it strong enough? I noticed it was glued together with black silicone. Is black stronger then clear?
Thanks,
Nick

I much prefer black silicone. I would use the black silicone available from Allglass from your LFS. its what they use on their black silicone tank and it is solid.

black is nice because it looks brand new 10 years down the road, as it doesn't show algae easily nor does it discolour from meds.

clear looks old very quickly.

Heh, my RTV tubes just came today and I spent the last hour scraping off the old silicone on the bottom panel, now just got to scrape it off the corners.

Great to hear man. Its a pain, but its got to be done. I would also advise using some acetone one you get it all off. One last percaution to get it clean. You are the smart one!
