Saw a small skunk loach at a large retailer and saved it.I was wanting to put it in my sons tank and its sitting there in the bag now. There is a big mystery snail in there that i didnt think about till i got home.Is this snail a goner? The loach is about an inch and a half long.

Skunks are very nasty fish. I hope you have a spare tank just for skunks. All botiine loaches are capable of attacking any invertebrates. Inverts are their natural prey in the wild.

Thanks for the quick reply, the only other option is to put him in with my Africans and clown loaches but i really dont want to upset or get any of my babys hurt lol.Wish i would have thought it out or researched this.Honestly i new it was a loach but not what kind.Ill call a buddy to see if he wants it.My 3 year old is very partial about his snail.

Your clown loaches and Africans will never be happy with skunks around.

Hes just a little speck in a 200 gallon tank now. Thanks for the advice.Such a harmless looking fellow in a tank at walmart getting picked on,just another reason to do my homework first.I dont shop there for fish often but i have picked up some good finds there mixed in with others and cheap too.

I would also recommend that if you keep your Africans at a high pH, find a different home for the loaches. The high pH and water hardness is hard on their internal organs, and loaches I have seen kept in that situation develop deposits on their skin. People do it all the time as snail control in African tanks, but it really isn't the best situation for the loaches.
