I've been reading up on Green Terrors, here and at other places, and learned about the different 'saums', silver, white and orange; size, temperament, etc. No, I couldn't Google a 'Royal'.
Anyway, the other day mife wife and I were in the big city and stopped at the good pet store- not a chain- and there was the most beautiful, 3" Green Terror for $9.98 and we decided we have the proper place for one. I've seen them in other stores but they didn't have nice colors. So we got him home and he's doing great, looks splendid- no, beautiful-gorgeous-regal--- I went to the Cichlid Forum (one place I didn't think to look in earlier) and in the profile section it's listed as the False Gold Terror. I don't care if it's 'False' or not, it's lovely and hardy. But NOwhere in all the research I did was there mention of Real or False; just Green Terrors. Is it, like, proprietary to this sight but otherwise not common knowledge anywhere else?

And no Royal GT's here either.

It is another confusion taking place in the cichlid world similar to Red Devil, Midas, and bunch of other cichlids that look like the two.

If you have a "Goldsaum" you are lucky!!!I have been looking for 1 around here for a couple of years. They are majestic looking and can become really aggresive when larger.Nice find!! :clap

my juvenile "royal" green terror looks exactly like that. I noticed a huge difference between my royal green terror and the regular green terror. the regular green terrors at my lfs were not nearly as colorful as my guy and were 2 inches bigger. they also didnt have the same size fins, especially at the tail.

I like your gallery. This GT looks like yours but you can't tell about personality. Ours- Al- Jay- is calm as can be but I know that will change. My point is that he isn't a GT but a "False" GT and I really don't care. I would give (your) life for him even if he isn't the "True" GT.

The royal is usually just a term for the gold saum with the bright Orange tail and dorsal. I agree though i have a 5" male in a 55g by himself and the green that covers his body and the way the orange looks under high spectrum lighting is just spectacular....."What a awesome fish."

For future reference, since I live stateside, if I ever say GT, I'm refereing to the "gold saum" series of "gt's" as they're far more common and are generally what's laying about at LFSs.

I'm assuming this is generally true for everyone right? (I feel like I'm gonna get flamed/made to look a fool on this one).
