my 9"armatus bit 8" leichardti in haft ,just let you know
but i still want to buy a new leichardti

WHAT TO DO!!! lol. Man.....so what I gather is I might have to choose between the Arm and the AFT. Its a lot of $$ to play with not to mention I don't want to put anything in harms way. I just would;ve figured the Armatus wouldn't hit to many fish the same size just to protect those fangs. I would think some form of instict would keep him kind of a wuss unless he was out for food.

Ditch the ATF man. Ive had both (seperately) and the armatus was such a better fish to own!

I hate single fish tanks but trust me, a lone armatus will make ANY fish keeper happy!

I am a little confused. I see a lot of tanks on youtube with an armatus with various other fish. Not that they don't have problems, but everything seems ok. I am not big on single fish tanks either but thats about all I got lol. Every damn thing I own can't be kept with anything else. Thats why I finally set up another RB tank. Species tank but at least there are a lot of them in there. What about the Aro and Arm?

Man you really have to love the Armatus or anything to dedicate a 10Ft tank for them :)

for my armatus it ok when you have a light on
but when i turn my light off,he become monster ,anyway he just killed temesis and rea tail paraya yesterday, because i turn my light off for the first time since 2 month

the aro and armatus could work. i have a black aro with my 8" armatus.

most of the time when u see an armatus with other fish, it is only temporary until the armatus decides to strike.

armatus is deff a sweeter fish then the atf, but if u want a comm tank u should go with the atf. armatus is hit or miss with tankmates, yet ok with bottom dwellers most of the time. i have my big one with rays. u ever think about rays?????

Now that you mention it I have just started thinking about it this morning. :) I guess I will continue to do my research and take to heart the info you guys have given. First hand exp. is always the best. Thanks a lot guys. I think the Armatus I could have gotten is sold as of this afternoon anyway :(. I will find out in a few hours.

Everyones experience is different. Mine was brought up in a payara community eating non live food since about 3.5 inches.

Was just fine with tankmates. Only thing I had to move that it really didn't like was a Rhaphiodon. I even had a 4-5 in PTC in there with him till I moved the Rhaph. Was fine with gar and NTT. Added a pair of Silver dats and that was his demise. From what I understand aggression starts around 10 inches..... Mine was 12 and a big ol panzie with no signs of aggression.

I think the key is to get them off live at a VERY early age and always keep a few bigger fish in with it.

Like I said everyone's experience is different.

like Db junkie is saying everyones experience are different...my armatus doing great with bass, pikes ,bichir, st dat, cichlids, eel, nile perch all big size etc...except african tigerfish and it's own kind...in the 500gl...my armatus..i got him when he was 12" and I started to mixed him with different fish...now he is about 22inches as long the tankmates are bigger than the armatus....fish also have different personality..."RAIDER" is pretty calm conpare to the other armatus...just my opinion;) dont get me wrong in the past he killed some of his tankmates or ate them......because they are smaller or other payara..like redtail payara.:) I had mixed with aro with no problem..I feed him nothing bit feeders from 12inches to 22inches..last 2 weeks ago I decided to not feed him ..for about 3 days...raise my temp to 85 and did a 80 or 100 gallon water change also raise my ph from 6.5 to 7.0...and I started with tilapia fillet ...no luck..so I tried chicken hearts...he grab on it and then I also got me shrimp and ate that too...NO more feeders...but he likes the hearts more than the shrimps..... gl bro
