Howdy,
The Kelvin rating of lamps is a very bad system. In general, you are right with plants and +- 7000 K. However, the temperature doesn't say anything about the actual spectrum. With the tools learned in physics or physical chemistry, you can use the Plack-distribution to calculate a single wavelength. For 6700 K (which I have in my tank), that'd be in the lower 400s nm. But that doesn't tell you anything about how it's suited for plants. It only tells you that it's a bit towards the shorter wavelengths as compared to sunlight. The light temp truely only tells you what it looks like. (The higher, the colder/bluer).
The rule of thumb that you stated holds true for aquarium lights. But I am not sure if this is also usable for these Hungaran specialties
Guys, if you don't plan on getting high-light plants, I'd say go for these lights. You seem to have them around, so give them a shot. If it doesn't work, you can still buy other lights later on.
