Will my Jags, Carpinte and Orange Pike be fine if they're not fed for 8 days (I'm going away)? They're all pretty small; the Carpinte are 3", the Jags range from 2.5" to 4" and the pike is 4". I am not going to ask anyone to feed them for me because no-one else at home knows anything about fish and I don't trust them. I'm worried only because these guys are small. I wouldn't worry about large fish not eating for 2 weeks.

Could you put the food you want to feed them into plastic baggies and label them by date. Have a friend take care of them and hide all your food supplies if you are concerned about overfeeding. If you are worried they will forget, find an adult neighbor that you can trust. They only need to stop by a couple of times in that amount of time.

Just some ideas, the feeder idea is great as well!

Over here there are few people I can trust, unfortunately. I think I'll just fill the tank with feeder fish and hope they don't pass anything to my fish. Thanks for the input guys.

your fish will become extra aggressive to each other once they start to starve. better put dividers in their tank if you can manage it. stuff them before you leave and do a large water change. it might help if you leave some healthy live feeders that would last them a few days.

Yeah that's mainly what I'm worried about. Aggression. Moreover I have five smallish Managuense in there, one of which is the dominant fish. Damn. I'll definitely get feeders.

the live food is a great idea and what i do is i put a lot of floating plants in so the feeders last longer from all the hiding places and if they eat dry food already then you can also put in a feeder automat they work for me too

They don't eat dry food. I'll use floating plants then. Thanks!
