Yes that is a scar from a heater burn that happened under previous owners care. Hopefully that fades a little more over time. It has gotten a lot better in the few months I hae owned him already. If not, thats ok he is very active and aggressive eater and I hope to breed him with a leopoldi one day

Why would you want it to turn black??

Nicest black rays are very light grey hens but they are alot harder to find than black hens.i think your hen will turn very dark grey almost black. Most hens will go darker when larger I've only ever come across and seen a few nice full grown greys.

No offence, but im having a hard time beleving that to be a pure henlei.

If I wanted another brown ray i would have bought another motoro for 100 bucks. I was hoping it would be more black then brown

If its a black ray you were wanting then you would have been better with a Leopoldi (P13). Hens like P14 never turn completely black, they may appear that way until you add a Leopoldi as a tank mate, there is "very" dark brown and there is jet black...big difference!
My Hen was very light grey for about 3 years then suddenly he has become very dark.....never thought he would.
