will this mix work

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't think it will work up to the size you would like to have it work. Reason being the butti is going to come out of it's shell and beat on the eel or Pbass, way before 6-7". I have had several over the years and they make good cichlids community fish until they hit 3-4" IME. The only way I have kept them in a community past 4" was in my 125gallon with a 6" male jag, 7" texas male, 7" uro male, and a 10" pleco with some silver dollars as dithers. Oh ya and the butti was 4" when he started to dominate the uro and texas, and had to go by months end when he hit 5 1/2".

That being said though, every fish is different and you might get lucky with yours.
Good luck and let us know how the tank holds up.

yeah the fish all will be babys and only staying in the 55gal tank intill they get about 6 or 7 ins then ill move then into my 125 gal

Still no good - adult Peacock Bass range from 2-4' depending on the species. P.Bass (Cichla) will grow to 6-7" rather quickly and they eat like a hog and need to be fed accordingly.

Baby P-Bass are hard enough to keep alive and thriving without having to worry about an angry cichlid trying to kill it constantly plus a 125 still isnt a big enough upgrade for the bass and fire eel . I would try other similar cichlids such as midas, jags, red devils or flowerhorns . Good luck with whatever you decide to do:)

NO fire eel they need a 250gal...

... why would it need a 250 gal? a fire eel could very easily be done for life in a 75 or a 125. They get 30" long yes, but this length is often coiled in and around objects and because of their shape and behaviors they dont require that much space.

To the OP, theres no way those three fish would work in there for life. If anything youll get untill theyre 6" before the butti kills something.
