will this work for a jelly fish tank???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You should get some immortal jelly fish. I have always wanted them.

jellyfish do best in round tanks game master and pazzoman

I must first say that I have never kept jellyfish but I have done quite a bit of research into what it takes to house them. The type of tank you would want is a Kreisel style tank. It is a completely circular tank with laminar flow which will help to keep the jellyfish suspended in the middle area of the tank. Designing a tank like this seems to be quite a challenge unless you are skilled with acrylic.

those biubes look nice, too bad the only jellyfish I would be able to get ahold of are those moon ones that live maybe a year and cost over $40+shipping

x2 for the most part.

The one thing about the Kreisel aquarium is that it does not have to actually be completely round on the inside; the one from Jelliquarium is a dodecagon (12 sides) with the top, bottom, and side panels being smaller than the other panels. The laminar flow is a must or your jellyfish will just turn into goo on the bottom of the aquarium. I'm thinking of converting my 29 gallon into a Kreisel aquarium just by adding some acrylic on the inside to make the proper shape then I'll mess with the inlets/outlets and flow rate in order to get the laminar flow.

As you can tell, it's not terribly difficult to make a Kreisel aquarium if you're good with acrylic or glass, but it will take time to fine tune it for optimal laminar flow.

Go with the desktop one from Jellyfishart or the biube... they were both designed by the same person and work they exact same way...
