Hi I am building a stand for my 50g 4' tank, I want it to look decent so I have built it from 3/4" poplar plywood , I plan on paiting it black , This is my second stand build the first was for a 75G but I used 2x4's and 4x4's with a plywood top, I have another home built tank stand undermy 125g that uses 3/4 plywood with 2x4 bracing, I want this stand to look decent but also function so i am wondering if i have built it strong enough ?

That actually looks really weak to me. you should use 2x4 to make a frame then put on plywood.

well if you look at the pre fab tanks stands available at the lfs this is built stronger But I am looking for feed back , I dont want to see any 2x4's so I guess I will add some plywood shelves, 50 gallons should way about 600 lbs ?

The stand I made for my 125 Gallon was 2 pieces of 2x4 stuck together to create 4x4s and reinforced with brackets and screws. You could never be sure so thats why I like to be prepared

Store-bought stands look so flimsy, it's amazing they don't collapse, and DIY stands tend to be so overbuilt, they can hold a truck. This looks to be somewhere in between. Personally, I would've used 4 vertical supports instead of just 3.

I wanted "room" for additional tanks, its so hard for me to "get" tank space, i wanted to be able to add a couple of 10G tanks under the 55G.

The thing to be concerned about is the whole thing buckling sideways. The covering on the back will add some rigidity, but some more bracing would be helpful.

What's holding all the plywood together? Glue? Screws? Glue and screws? I hope it isn't just nailed together!!!
