Ok, right now I have a 8" oscar cycling my 55G for me but I plan on soon taking him back to LFS and throwing my 2 EBJDs in there (about 2" ea maybe)

That will then leave me with an empty 20G tank and prolly a couple dollars in store credit at LFS.

I was thinking about maybe getting a betta for in there but would a betta be considered a community fish and if so what could go in there with it?

and one of the reasons I am taking the oscar back is because it is too much of a hassle to pick him up off the floor everyday =/ i am scared he will kill himself and I know my dad wont do it and I am gone most of the day so one day my oscar will get unlucky and jump out when im not here (I have no top on tank) on a tight budget right now

Female bettas are definitely fine with other fish. Male bettas will sometimes pester fish. It is different for everybody. I kept a Male betta in my community tank and after around 5 monthes, he decided to start picking on my African Knife. My Knife was much faster so it didn't pose a threat except for that he could never sit still and in the dark during the day. My betta was fine with my guppies, mollies, discus, gobies, and everything else. They are so slow, like a blimp, that most scenarios should be fine!

alright, but If i plan on getting a male betta what else could I put in the 20G??? I got a 330 GPH HOB filter on it rated for a 60G tank =/ if that says anything helpful to u lol

You should get fish that are not "shy fish". Most catfish should be fine (they didn't exist to my betta). Fast, defendable fish. What are some ideas of yours?

eh... IDK but I was thinking about just getting like 1 male betta, and like 3 female bettas and a few guppies???
