How in God's green Earth does anyone have a tank and no cover?

I found a 55g tank on the street and the cover/light was broken? DDD

lets see
when I was running 10 gal no cover, never knew a betta to jump

when I was running my 20 gal with gsp's, no cover never knew a puffer to jump

30 gal no cover, never knew mollies to jump.

55g no official cover but the 4' lighting housing covers 60% of the tank top.

50g hex, has a has a cover

and my 125g has a canopy so it is covered.

but there is nothing wrong with keeping certain fish in a topless tank. It's just Oscars need one hence the cover on my 125g. jack dempsey's similarly, hence the cover on my 50 hex.

If you need to get rid of the O than do it just remember don't make a habit of returning fish to the store. As with any pet you should be willing to make the comitment for the life of the animal. As for the lid you should consider this before purchasing more fish you will enjoy your fish more with nice lighting and knowing they are safe from jumping out it also saves on heating and evaporation loss. If you get money back from the O maby you can use that plus what you can scrounge from your next paycheck to get a lid and light.
