Will this work???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nobody replied in the time I had to get or not get the fish... So, I got the fish!
Added to a 4-5" Oscar and a 4-5" SA shovel nose red tail cat (I think that is correct...)
New stock: 4-5" Jardini Aro
4" Datnoid, Silver/American
6" Dragon fish
Had them in a 55 and things seemd good for a day or two:

there are more videos at warrendafish on you tube...

Anyway, came home today and my Jar was a little beat up, scrapes, nothing major. So, I moved him to a 120 tall I had cycling with used water from other tanks and a stocked bio pad.

Now the plan is to get all the baby monsters to the 120 tall until they ou grow it.
BUT, will my Jar continue to get beat up? Now there is almost 3 times the space?
I predict they should be alright until the next upgrade in a year or so. Is this correct?

Any help is appreciated.

I guess I should have waited, but the fish are in excellent condition, I got a good deal, and dont see any real decent fish in my area often. So I tried to take them when available.

Thank you all for your time and patience

Mate, a little self research could have gone a long way!

Take back the catfish now. It will last maybe a month.

I did my research on all fish on the list. From what I understand, the catfish is the least of my worries.

I realize it's a 4-5 footer. I also read it has a relatively slow growth rate. I am prepared for the future with adaquate tank/pond size...

From the research I have done, I thought all would do well together, provided enough space, food, and shelter. Considering the Dat likes to choose his/her home and not share, which I have accomodated.

Now I think they will all just have to go into the 120 sooner than expected.

Like today... Thje aro is in there now by himself.

If a RTC is slow growing, then humans don't grow at all. RTC and TSN have got HUGE groth rates on them. 1-2" per month! Some people even claim theres grow 1" per week!

You obviously didn't visit a lot of websites on the matter.

RTC will eat the others-I have read a lot of threads about RTC killing or eating pretty much any other fish.

Don't take this the wrong way, but there's no way you did your research. Go the aro forum and you will see the thread about jardini and tankmates and how they don't work. Go to the catfish forum and you will see the growth rates of RTC and what type of enclosure is required to keep them. A RTC will outgrow the 120 in 6 months or sooner if properly cared for and will be more then large enough to eat your other fish. It will be big enough to eat the dat in a matter of weeks.

I too was doing some research on the RTC and decided there is no way I could house this thing for life rite now, they get GINORMOUS. In a 120 that be like putting a hippo in your bathtub LOL...
