$25 is a good price. I have a lot of gar and I raise and catch feeders for them. I have river guppies in a 5 gallon tank, and I catch blackstripe topminnows when I go fishing. Once they get larger, around 10-12 inches, you can try to get them on market shrimp, but I prefer to keep feeding mine what they would eat in the wild......live fish

my thoughts exactly on the food and i live in the land of 10,000 lakes so why pay when i love to fish. i can kill two birds with one stone...and saving money will help to convince my wife to let me go more:naughty: i'm going to buy it on friday.:headbang2 waiting for the store to call me to finalize my order. normally the store dosen't do that but i'm on the special customers list they pretty much do what i say.

Do you have the cats now? If not, then you should be alright. The gar should grow about as quick as the cats. The gar will be 10-12 inches real quick as long as you feed them well, like in a month.

i will post some pics, and i have the tsnxrtc now it is 10.5" will get the others in a week or two. the growth rate of the gar is that quick? my tsnxrtc went for 3.5" to 7.5" in twelve days!

Just keep an eye on that rtc. At 10" he may be big enough to eat a 6" gar (they're spindly little things at that size), especially since gar like to rest on the bottom occasionally.

i feared for my 4in goldnugget and my 8in bgks at 7.5 so i moved it to a new tank. i just bought a 3in rtc that is in the big tank until it is big enough not to be lunch for the tsnxrtc... witch tryed to eat a 4.5in common pleco in the new tank.

nice...i always thought they were slow growers...i talked to the sore and they orded the gar and will holdit for me to get on fri. hopfully the vendor don't screw up and not send it... this happened 2 times when i tryed to get a fire eel only to get it and have it choke to death after 4 days.

If you have probs getting it let me know. I have plenty of gar, some shortnose, some longnose. I would be happy to send some assuming I get the shipping down pat. The growth will slow some after they hit about 12-14 inches, but by then you shouldn't have much to worry about. Good luck
