Starting a 300 gallon tank with all cichlids about the same size approx. 1"-2". 1 (male) Grammodes, 1 Male Green Terror (Gold Saum), 1 (male) Festae), 4 (male) Pink convicts, 6 clown loaches. I like the (male) Carpintis too, so if you think that one of the cichlids mention above won't work then I can subsitute it with a Escondido. Can someone tell me what they think?

The Festae and the Carpintes Will be the only ones left once they get to be full grown maybe the green terror but the cons will be fish food and the loaches as well but just my opinion...

I think it stands a fair chance of working, although ultimately the male Festae may choose to eliminate other larger Americans, such as carpinte and the saum.

It would be considerably safer (I'd say almost foolproof) to swap the festae for the carpinte, though.

Get a female festae instead of a male. Female is very aggressive but it does not have the muscle and power to do much damage. I will be surprise if the cichlids eat the clown loaches, unless the cichlids want to choke themselves to death. :lol2:

I agree that you should substitue the festae. Just remeber the larger and more agressive fish will eliminate the rest, thats just my personal experience.

Forget the convicts....go for some Crenicichla (pike cichlids). And why are you only gettin one of each fish? Once you get them in that tank and you see how much space is left over...specially since they will be so small...ur gonna have a hard time not buying more fish...lol...its inevitable...

i totally understand why you're going with 1 of each. you will have more aggression in that tank with pairs for sure. i do like the idea of the female festae because thats probably the one thats going to give you trouble over the long run if any. Good luck. A pike would also be a good idea! maybe someone here could help you out with that though.
