The 2 tanks are a 120g on bottom and 125g on top. The bottom tank is on casters to pull out for cleaning and other fun stuff. The top stand is 46" off the ground. I'm planning on using 4X6 on each front corner and no center support in the front. It will have a center and diag braces in the rear. Also the stand will get fully finished with a solid sheet for the back and sides. Im just not so sure about the front.

Well, your supporting over a 1000lbs each, so your going to have to get some good casters (don't know if I would want to roll that around tho & I'm fearless :D ).

Are the 4x6's legs or cross mambers? (or both)

Maybe double up the front cross member. and use a center cross member also.

Are you notching the uprights? Lag bolts? Glue?

How about a drawing...might help.

I have a 518 gallon tank on casters, never moved it when it was full but it weighs about 1000pounds empty including the stand and it moves without too much trouble

My brother and I looked into this with 2 240s (weighs more I know), 1 for frontosas and 1 SA biotype. But we got told the best way to do it would be with a strong steel frame with a rolla-door kinda of setup to roll the tank in and out easily as there would be no weight on the floor.
We got told the casters would be the weakest link and would be likely to give out if rolled (this was on tiles so there were bumps) as the weight cannot be spread out enough and if we wanted to go with a wheel type system larger wheels with an axel system were recommneded as a more reliable decision.
My brother didn't like the idea of having a steel frame and couldn't work out filtration with the different water parmaters so he scrapt the idea. But recently he has started to talk about it again with a Jar and a CA biotype. If he does do it I be sure to post it, he said he will go home and draw some plans up, but I'm not holdng my breath and I'm not doing all the work.
