Will uneaten ghost shrimp hurt my ray?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ghost shrimp will not live long in FW well the type we get in the UK is salt water and cold water

it wont harm the rays as in biting them but when it dies after say 6 hours it will pollute the tank real bad

if you leave it in for 2 day when you are away your tank will be a mess when you come home as the dead shrimp puffs up like little cotton buds

ours is not called ghost shrimp its called river shrimp

its mainly fed to saltwater fish but you can feed it to fast feeding FW fish

i don't see the logic in gut loading high quality protein to feeders for the sake of passing on the high quality proteins to your fish. the feeder digests the high quality protein and passes the waste. the only benefit for our pet fish is if that feeder still has some of the high protein in it's digestive track. that's the only way our pet fish can reep the benefits of the high quality protein. the feeder is a good source of protein, itself. it doe not matter if you gut load high quality protein to feeders.

Well theres your problem, we're talking about ghost shrimp not river shrimp. River shrimp is naturally saltwater so its not surprising if it does die in a couple hours.

You gutload right before you feed, not a day before you feed them. If you load them a day before then obviously they would have passed the protein already. Anyways, no one ever uses this as a staple, this method is to get a ray to start eating.
