What about sticking a bucket of water outside right under a light and then bringing it in once there are bugs in it? That way you could sort out all the nasties and dump them back outside, and you wouldn't have to worry about exposing your fish to the outside world.
Or you could get one of those bright underwater pool lights and drop it right into the bucket. If the bucket was opaque, the bugs would only go through the top in an effort to get at the light, and they'd go right into the water.
