Windows 8

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It looks cool. Might go try it out at best buy tomorrow.

I can get it free from my school but I have yet to instal in on a partition. From what I have seen its not something I will like and going off a of Microsoft's track record this OS will be crappy in comparison to the previous OS and its predecessor. Not a fan of the new GUI though.

I've heard from people that the interface runs a little slow, not to mention if your using it on a tablet, their aren't all that many apps that are produced for it (which is no surprise since its new)

Personally, i'm not too sure about it... with Microsoft's track record on new software such as Windows, i'll pass...

I have been using it for a few months now. It's not that much better, but the start menu looks really cool. :D

It's actually not Windows 8 yet...I think they call it Windows RT...the Windows 8 PRO should be out in a couple months...I'd wait until then. They'll make updates, etc. so they can convert Windows RT users (tablets, phones, etc.) to the PC-friendly version (Windows 8 PRO). It's driven to be a "touch screen GUI" so most PC people won't immediately jive with it. They went against the grain to compete with IOS, which still uses IOS for mobile devices only. Microsoft is producing this OS to run on all of its systems...new hardware, new PCs, new XBOXs, etc. It's a bold move...it'll take some time to warm to. I haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising. I would use a MAC but I'm a gamer, and you simply can't do it on a MAC. If this can connect PC gamers and XBOX gamers, along with our media, to tablet users, phone users, etc. I think it's a game changer. But it's all perception. We'll see.

Every other microsoft OS is a piece of @^*$ and since windows 7 is a pretty decent system then their track record says that this next one will be horrible. I'll avoid it like the plague until the next version is released.

You can try the Enterprise Version for 90 days for free. I don't like it at all. I got used to it to where I didn't hate it anymore, but it pretty much sucks. I like Linux better than Windows, but I still do use Windows for some things and I like Windows 7 okay.

I don't believe this is the version of 8 that I have, but here is the trial: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/jj554510.aspx
