With higher speed limits, our highways have been getting safer

The faster you drive the less likely you are to fall asleep. :D

Seriously, when driving fast people tend to be more absorbed in driving and don't get distracted that easily.

Further safety statistics are calculated as number of accidents per travelled milage. That is why space travel is the safest means of transportation (per mile of course, not per hour). When you drive fast you spend less time on the road and that also contributes to safety. Fianally, higher speed limits decrease the number of snail-drivers who piss people off, raise adrenaline levels and accidents.

I actually believe in that too.

The German word for highway is "Autobahn", if that't what you ar asking.

But most Autobahns now have speedlimits. They are high: usually higher than 130kmh and often higher, but there aren many oportinities to do 300kmh like a few year ago.

Also at these speeds accidents statistics rise again.
