It's been a while in the making and I"m dragging my feet, but look how I"m trying to recreate a mangrove root waterway. This is my 80gal long and I'm going to fill it back up with the fish in my signature. I'll give details as to how this was created later.

How/where did you acquire the mangrove "roots"? That will look very nice with fish darting in and out of them in a naturalistic setting. I'm interested in setting that up. Thanks.

These are fake. I'm no artist so this is a novice attempt, but I'm happy with the initial results. I wanted to have something I could move around with ease yet strong enough to be battered by the fish and not break.

Looks good.

Here are some pictures taken from my phone. The idea is to have the front 3" reserved as unobstructed swimming.

Out of curiosity, how did you make them?

And btw, what kind of sand is that?

I used two items to make this. Drinking tubing you buy at hardware stores (in various widths) and an epoxy that is water proof and safe.

The sand is play sand. Cleaning it was a pain in my tail. I'm going to add some darker sand, I want a muddy look. Right now, this is too bright.

Looks very nice - inspiring. Still wondering what material you used - I know trying to purchase something like this at lfs would be insanely priced.
