  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its best to provide adequate hiding places to young red tail cats and hollow pipes and wood are probably best. My 4" rtc loves to hide under a large flat piece of wood.. But that also triggers territorial behaviour..

i added rocks and this castle thing to the tank for my rtc back after the first time i lost him in the filter.. he just chilled under the same rock all the time... well i was cleaning the gravel today and i rarley worry any more when i cant find him because i just figure hes hiding.. well this time i couldnt find him anywhere took the rocks out to clean.. wasnt anywhere.. checked the filter.. wasnt there (new filter to.. my old one was so dirty and old decided to invest in a new one after the artc let me know how dirty it was...!) well i opened the cabinet under the tank and there he was.. all dried up on the ground.. Inches away from my feeder tank to bad he couldnt land in there :(... still not sure how he got out and in there... theres a small opening in the back of the stand for the wires.. and theres is less than an inch on each side of the filter so im gonna try to take pics of the set up tomarrow and u guys can try to figure out how he got out.. i think im going to take abreak from catfish for a while...

I hate to say this but it's probably for the better. Asian red tails are the most aggressive fish on the planet. To properly house one would require a huge tank. And by huge I mean atleast 500 gallons. They like super clean water and absolutely nothing else in their tank. Even fish that are too big for their mouth they will simply kill by removing chunks of flesh. I'm sorry for your loss as I know how frustrating and upsetting it can be....
