.....thats a good question....
Hey guys, I was thinking of keeping 2 wolves together. Would that be a bad idea? I've seen it done before but i know it depends on the fish. Their about 8" in length right now. The reason is if I put them together I can free up a tank for..............MORE FISH!!!!!!!!!!

Hi aro man

I am new to wolf fish i am more a piranha man so my words of wisdom will not be up to standards of the the others on this forum but here a go i currently have three wolves (malas) they are 6-7inches and so far they have been ok, they do so some aggression towards each other but very minimal however i have been told this may change as they get bigger, the only thing you can do is stick them together and watch them, i think they will be ok, how big is ur tank? i currently have 2 x 4inch giant gouramis, 2 x 6inch silver dollars and a fish called a head stander this is around 5inch all have had no problems from the wolves, actually i have seen the head stander chase and have a nip at two of the wolves and they just swim away it wont touch the one wolf i think it is the dominent one. This may also chagne as the wolves get bigger i hope so or i think they will be :owned: by the headstander.

Do you have other fish with the wolves?

Hey kane1, i wanna put them in a 75 gal . Its a little small i suppose but all i have empty right now. Don't have other fish with them yet but was hoping to. I was thinking maye be a rhomb or dorado. I have a elongatus, you think that it might be to aggressive to go in.

I wouldn't mix p's with any other fish but feeders. You may have some luck in the beginning, but once territories are established you'll have problems. It could go either way depending on the size of each fish, but I would never suggest it.

Wot stick piranha like a rhomb or elong with ur wolves :WHOA: your asking for trouble, if the piranha is to big to fit in the wolves mouths then it big time problems for them, i have owned piranha for years i have had pygos and a lot spieces of serrasalmus and from my exp with wolves the elong and rhomb would kick the crap out of the wolves, i would not stick any piranha with the wolves, as for dorado i have been told they are a good fish to mix but will out grow a 75 gal tank quick time.

Wot is the foot print of your tank?

Hahaha!!! That was a close one. Will be taking your advice on that!!! Any ideas on how fast the wolves grow? They are malabriacus (think thats how its spelled...) but I'm not sure what region they are from.

Forgot to give the tanks foot print, Its a homemade 4ft L by 2ft W by 1ft 4in T (weird height measurement). I got it as a 75 but now that i've measured it, its a little over 80gal if my math is correct.

I think your tank will ok for them while they are young as they get bigger it all depends on the aggression of the actual fish, i do think you will have enough tank space. I have been told they grow fast, mate they they do eat alot so fast growth is understandable.

Aro-man as i said before i'm a novice on wolves maybe others that have had them would be able to pass on more info.

i had a pike cichlid in with my rbps for at least 8 mos before i sold my ps and i would starve my ps for 3 and 4 days at a time and throw a large chub in for them every 3 days or so. the reason for this was as soon as the ps even looked at the pike cichlid he flared his gills and darted at them so they knew not to mess with him but a wolf just lays there like a rock and might not make a move if one got close to him so there for the p just may take a bite out of em.;)
