Hoplias malabracius about 8" is battling it out with a 8" Jack Dempsey.

I plan on moving the JD next week but how does the wolf look? Will it heal ok? Not sure how it's tooth popped out like that.

Looks good, will heal up quick as mentioned. Probably but the JD and ripped away which pulled the tooth out, it'll be replaced by another no worries there. And agree with the guys. Having only two territorial fish would never work. It's either you try JDM style or skip it.

Thanks everyone. I thought I had a shot since I had the wolf with a Texas Cichlid for a while. But now lesson learned the wolf will remain alone.

It doesn’t need to be alone. There plenty of other fish you could keep with. Just with cichlids, you gotta overstock pretty much.

Bichirs are great ime. Could try some top water characins but try to get them atleast 6". Odoes work. Could try chalceus but they grow slower so definitely wanna get them as big as you can. Could do SD. Depends what you're into.
I tried to find chalceus locally but they were always to small.
Odoes? Didn't pop up in the search. What's an SD?
I'm completely open to tankmates. I have a rocket gar in a different tank but it' only 6 inches.
