Wolf Fish I.D

It's mala for sure just likely from a different collection area and the reason it looks different (sp Iguaza that moe mentioned). There are 3 different groups of mala that were also ID'd from previous science trips but no official names given except those named after rivers.

I'll see if I can get permission to post a pic of a real intermedius from an old owner.

I'm sure intermedius has been brought into the US but no one has been able to identify them or just think they are plain old lazy wolves. They get mixed in there when collected as they are difficult to ID and ur not really looking for them in particular.
How do you know they've been imported? Just curious. And post the pic if the owner allows it. Also what are the 3? I've not heard of this

There's a published paper that showed h Mala in the iguaza river. They were never sized or able to be identified but they were shown to be different compared to the other typical malas. Will try to find the link for that. But as far as intermedius is concerned they have been probably been a few mixed in when imported by mistake when looking for malas and others. H inter was identified in prior years on another forums but on one know where they went and what a fully grown adult looks like. These were in the states. They have been imported to Asia over the years as well. Not uncommon as top dollar will be paid there. Got permission from amidae to post with credit to predatoryfishkeepers.com if I used any photos.

Thanks, Kno4te! this one look quite similar to the one Wes sold couple months ago (the baby with red hue color and diamond scale).

They have the round heads and no slopes like lacs and yes very similar to those little red wolves that Wes regrets selling.
